20221207 A Letter to Parents — Maintain Personal Health Protection, School Resumption is Promising

Dear Parents,

According to Guangzhou Education Bureau’s latest announcement, ASJ has not yet resumed offline classes, but please trust us, as the Chief Principal, my team and I deeply understand the anxiety of parents and students, and we look forward to seeing everyone’s energetic and lovely smiling faces on campus again.

Based on the gist of ‘The Prevention and Control of Coronavirus Pneumonia (9th Edition) and ‘The Twenty Optimization Measures’, in future epidemic prevention and control work, personal protection will play an important role, everyone is the ‘focal point’ for his/her own health; and covid vaccination is an important way to strengthen self-protection and build a herd immunity, as well as guarantee personal health protection in future group activities. At present, the vaccination rate of ASJ faculty and staff has reached 98%. I hope that parents and students can also get vaccinated as soon as possible, so that we can build an immune barrier together to create a safer and healthier campus environment.

Recently, we have noticed that some Chinese and foreign experts mentioned that in the past three years, due to the strong epidemic prevention and control measures, the incidence of influenza has been reduced significantly, but this also means that human immunity to influenza virus has decreased. What is more, as the weather is getting colder and the influenza virus also enters a seasonally active period, there is a superimposed infection risk of covid and influenza. It is also highly recommended that all parents and students get influenza vaccines to minimize the harm caused by those infections.

We sincerely believe that with the continuous optimization of epidemic prevention measures, students can return to school and restart the colorful campus life soon. According to the experience of Hong Kong and other regions, in everyday school life, some students may not be able to attend classes due to infections. We have already formulated relevant teaching plans to meet students’ learning needs.

While returning to normal life, all teachers, students, parents, and staff must stay vigilant to the epidemic prevention and control work. Everyone should strictly fulfill the requirement of journey between home and school only, avoid visiting risk areas, report relevant pandemic information and monitor personal health conditions, get vaccinated in time, pay attention to hand hygiene and wear masks properly, maintain a social distance of at least 1 meter, ventilate frequently, and reduce gatherings.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We believe that where flowers bloom, so does hope; and we will win in the end!
